The gospel is the good news of the person and work of Jesus Christ - that the Son of God was born a man, suffered death on a cross, was resurrected to eternal life, and will return in glory to save a world in rebellion against God.

The Gospel is Christological

The gospel is the good news of the person and work of Jesus Christ; who He is and what He has done, is doing, and will do to save the world and humanity from sin. This God-Man Jesus lived a sinless life, performed many miracles empowered by the Spirit, taught the truth of God (and is in fact the truth), and demonstrated the love, wisdom, humility, compassion, and general character of God. Jesus is the revealer of God, and in Jesus we see who God is, and what life is supposed to and will be like in God’s Kingdom. By His coming and His ministry, King Jesus brought with Him the Kingdom of God that has been inaugurated in this world, and will one day be fully consummated. At the very heart of the gospel is the substitutionary death and victorious resurrection of Jesus; our sins were paid for on the cross, and sin, death, and the devil were ultimately conquered in the resurrection. Without the substitutionary death and victorious resurrection of Jesus, there is no good news for sinners. By the resurrection and ascension of the Christ, God showed that He approved of Jesus and His cross-work, and that His payment on the cross was sufficient to fully save humans. One day, Jesus Christ will return to judge all people, and will perfectly establish the kingdom of God forever, wherein all those who believe in Him will live in perfection with the Father, Son, and Spirit. Those who do not believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation will suffer eternal judgment.

The Gospel is Theological

Through the person and work of Jesus Christ—and through Him only—we are reconciled to God the Father. In the gospel our rebellion against God is ended, and His righteous judgment upon us is satisfied. Through the gospel we get God Himself, our greatest reward and treasure.

The Gospel is Apostolic and Biblical

It is in accordance with the teaching of the Apostles—who witnessed and reported the saving works of Jesus—and is handed down to us in the Scriptures.

The Gospel is Historical

If the life and works of Jesus did not happen truly in a real, historic time and place, then our faith is worthless, we are still in our sins, and we are to be pitied more than anyone.

The Gospel is Global

The only hope for the redemption of all creation is in Jesus Christ. Because of Jesus’ work on the cross and in the resurrection, where He defeated sin, death, and the devil, the curse upon the world has been lifted, and the world will one day be fully made new.

The Gospel is Practical

Those who believe Jesus and His gospel are not only saved for eternal life, but transformed by the Holy Spirit in this life.

The Gospel is Central

The core and driving thrust of all Christian ministry, if it is to be truly Christian, is the person and work of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel is Personal

Through the gospel, individual people are forgiven of sin, reconciled to God, adopted as a son or daughter of God, and granted eternal life in Him. Any and all who receive, affirm, believe, and follow Jesus and His gospel will be saved eternally. The gospel is freely offered to all, to be received in faith.
