As we saw last week, Jesus invites people to follow Him. There is power in simple invitation. Come and see. Come and follow. That was the thought behind “Visitor Sundays,” in which we encouraged you to invite visitors on the first day of the month. It was an effort to instill a culture of invitation at CBC, knowing that people still respond to simple invitations. While Visitor Sundays didn’t catch on for many, and we have stopped promoting the first Sunday of the month as Visitor Sunday, I think we have seen more and more of you invite others to come and join us for worship. Keep it up! Additionally, Visitor Sundays have now morphed into a “Visitor Lunch” on the first Sunday of the month. These have been really fruitful. Each first Sunday of the month, we are hosting a lunch for all who consider themselves visitors. There is no agenda other than simply meeting a few people from the church. It’s a great “first step” for any who want to get more of a feel for CBC. If you are reading this, you are most likely not a visitor anymore, but are fully a part of CBC. I want to give the encouragement to you to take advantage of Visitor Lunches. Assume that there will be a lunch hosted on the first Sunday of the month, and invite a guest to come with you. While these lunches are not intended for “regulars,” it’s anticipated that those who invite others would come along to the lunch. Most of the time they are hosted at our home – but I would love to see other homes host them in the future! Hopefully that gives you a little more insight into Visitors Lunches, and encourages us all to keep inviting others to come and see.
