Pastor's Note
September 18, 2025We are now settling into some of our fall routines at the church, so it's a good opportunity to put some events out there in advance so you can get them on your calendars! Take a look at a few exciting things coming around the corner, a few of which are new for us!
- Our annual Soupfest is happening on the evening of Sunday, November 16. This Thanksgiving-time meal is a soup potluck, and more importantly an opportunity to hear from one or more of our missions partners, and collect an offering for them. Last year, we moved it to the worship center, and that seemed to be a good move so we'll try that again!
- On the Friday evening and Saturday morning of December 5-6, we have a unique opportunity to host the local event for the first preaching class of Tabor's Graduate Studies in Ministry initiative. Tabor is now offering masters-level classes for ministry preparation, and you may recall that three of our men are in these classes. This event will be the culmination of the class, in which the students give and review their sermons. We will be the host church, welcoming the students and others associated with Tabor. More details to follow, but I'm hoping many CBCers will help serve and attend this event!
- On the evening of Sunday, December 14, we will have our annual CBC Kids Christmas Program, which is a highlight for many of our children (and more details will be coming soon). And of course, we will have our Christmas Eve service on December 24th (a Wednesday evening this year).
- Another new event - On Friday, January 23rd we will host something we are tentatively calling an "MB Heritage Night." This will be an evening of celebrating our origins with traditional Mennonite food, stories from our denomination's past, and learning more about CBC's history and people, with an eye toward our connections to other MB churches. A team is putting this together at the moment, so be on the lookout for details and information on how to get involved. I'm really excited to see what comes of this!
Place these things on your calendars and be on the lookout for details to follow.
