Pastor's Note
June 26, 2025A Psalm I often return to is Psalm 46. It is the basis of one of my favorite hymns, "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God." It is a Psalm of encouragement when facing personal turmoil. And it is also a great Psalm to keep in mind when the world itself seems chaotic. As we look to what is transpiring between Israel and Iran, we can see the chaos before us. We see wars and rumors of wars. And some of us may wonder how that relates to the church and the coming of our Lord Jesus. I can confidently say that I do not know when the end of this earth will come and when the Lord Jesus will return. I do know that there will be trouble until that time, as there has been ever since Jesus ascended. And looking at Psalm 46, we can know how all things will end. We know there is a river of life in the city of God, the habitation of the Most High. We know God is in the midst of that city, and that city will not be moved. We know He will make wars cease to the end of the earth. We know He will be exalted among the nations. We know the Lord is with us, His people, and that the God of Jacob is our fortress. I pray we are encouraged in the security of Psalm 46 today.
