Our July elder meeting was held July 16. We spent a portion of our time in discussion of pastoral care and related prayer, and the remaining agenda consisted of preparing for the Family Gathering (July 26) and some other miscellaneous items.

The Family Gathering will take place on July 26. This Family Gathering will consist of a meal provided by the elders and their wives and a meeting. All are welcome. Members should review the emails received which contain a link to vote on deacon affirmation as well as amendments to our constitution (paper forms are available from the office for those without email). These votes should be submitted by Friday, July 24. In addition, all should have received a copy of the proposed budget for the next fiscal year. At the meeting, members will be casting their votes on the budget. It is also possible for members to vote on the budget by assigning proxy to another member who will be present at the meeting. Sample proxy assignment forms are available through the church office. The Family Gathering meeting will also include an update on other areas of importance to the church, and there will be time for questions and answers. And as always, if you have questions, please feel free to contact your elder ahead of the Family Gathering.

Keith Worrel's required sabbatical begins after the Family Gathering. We took time to recognize his service with a special treat (thanks Maggie for the brownie/cake!) and by praying with him. Keith has served as the elder liaison for operations (formerly building and grounds), and we appreciate his service. Walt Jost will assume this role, where he has previously served well.

We also discussed and approved modifications to our Child Protection Policy (CPP). Those serving youth are well aware of the CPP as regular training is required to serve. If you have questions about our CPP, please contact Kris Gerbrandt, who administers the plan and coordinates the required training.

We are looking forward to sharing a meal and discussion at the Family Gathering.
