Elder Update from August
August 28, 2025The elders last met on August 21, 2025. As always, a portion of our time was spent in discussion and prayer around the needs of our members and the needs of our church. Part of our discussion included 242 groups, which are forming now. These groups are one of the ways in which we get to know one another better, and to serve and support one another. If you wish to join a 242 group and have not yet done so, you can use the Church Center app (or if you are not technically inclined, call the office and Karla can get you signed up). Even if you wish to remain in the same group as last year, please sign up in one of these ways.
All regular attenders and members (even those not wishing to participate in a 242 group) are placed in a pastoral care group led by an elder. These are loosely tied to 242 groups, and pastoral care groups will be settling out after the 242 sign up process is complete. Expect to be hearing from your elder after the pastoral care groups are finalized.
As part of our meeting discussion, we noted how we have been blessed with many visitors over the last several months. It is very encouraging that some of the visitors are youth that have been invited by our own youth. When welcoming visitors, exchange names and remember to greet them by name when you see them again (don't expect them to remember yours!) and be warm and friendly. In fact, the New Testamental Greek word translated “hospitality” means “love of strangers”. Better yet, take a tip from the youth and step out and invite unbelieving friends and acquaintances into your home and church to introduce them to the gospel. Paul wrote to the church at Thessalonica; 1 Thessalonians 2:8, “Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well." As we seek to share the gospel with individuals, it is only natural that we come to know them more by sharing in each other’s lives.
As always, our church is seeking those who feel they are being called to be elders, deacons, or to serve in other areas. Please contact Karla Hiebert or talk to one of the elders if you are feeling this tug.
