Pastor's Note - September 1

Thanks to those of you who participated in our church planting town hall this last Sunday night. For those of you who missed, it was recorded and should be available upon request! So let us know if you want to see that. For those who came, it was good to feel your investment and hear your questions. I came away very encouraged by our time together. We are just on the starting line, so there still lots of questions to be answered, and a lot that the Lord will clarify for us over time. At this point, here are a few things I think we know, just off the top of my head. 1) In order for a church plant to happen, the Lord must do it. It’s not something we can do on our own. So we must pray. 2) We already have a great amount of funding, and enough to hire a planting pastor. Certainly more funding will be needed later. But we are off to a great start, financially speaking. 3) We have a team together who will soon begin putting out a job description for a planting pastor. We could be ready to hire by spring! 4) Our denominational leadership is very enthused about our church planting efforts, and has voiced support. 5) Our world, even in our surrounding areas, is in need of more churches. There are more churches shutting down than there are being planted. 6) As many Christians as there are in our area, even in Johnson County, it remains true that a minority of people know Jesus as Lord and Savior. 7) We have a commission from Jesus to take the gospel out. To not go out with the gospel is disobedience to Jesus. 8) Our plan is to send a pastor and team out to a yet-to-be-determined location. 9) In order to send a team out, we will need to gather people in. We will need the Lord to move us in our evangelism and outreach. 9) The Lord desires that people be saved. As we go out with the gospel, we can be confident that it is the Lord’s will. This is what gives me great confidence in our efforts – that they are compelled by and in line with the Lord’s will. If you want to know how you can be involved and engaged in this – it starts with serving and inviting people along, and looking for ways to take the gospel out. What other questions do you have? Let’s keep the conversation going, keep praying, keep seeking the Lord’s will, and keep inviting others to come along and join us in serving Him.
