Pastor's Note - June 9

I would like to encourage us all to spend some time this summer connecting with someone new at the church. Following a couple years of pandemic life, you may find a number of unfamiliar faces around the church. So one of our focuses over the summer is relationally connecting and reconnecting. We would like to facilitate personal connections in a few different ways. You’ll hear more about all of these in the days and weeks ahead, but I just want to bring a couple to attention. First, we will once again coordinate Sunday Suppers. These are simply meals hosted by CBC folks, with the purpose of getting to know some new people. Kathy King will coordinate, and when you sign up, she will assign you a group to join for dinner on an upcoming Sunday. Second, we are also going to pair up people for “parenting connection” dinners. These will be dinners specifically for parents/grandparents, with the agenda focused on parenting as Christians. If you want to talk to another parent about parenting, sign up for one of these dinners. We’ll give you some funds to buy dinner, and pair you with someone who we think would be a good connection, and you’ll spend the evening together talking about parenting. Also, last Sunday we talked about forming new discipleship groups soon. If you want to grow spiritually, and grow in being a disciple of Jesus, while also walking closely with some other members of the church, then ask about joining a discipleship group. Those are just a few ways to get connected. I know there are also moms gathering at parks, men getting together for coffee, ladies gathering for lunch at the church, and people serving together in various ministries throughout the summer. If you would like to get to know more people at CBC, let us know and we’ll help make it happen!

Pastor's Note - June 9

I hope you will join us this weekend, as our church is introduced to Shaun LePage and his family. Shaun is our candidate for Church Plant Pastor, and following this weekend the members of CBC will vote to determine if he should fulfill this role (ballots will be distributed to members electronically and/or via hard copy). To that end, below are the events of this weekend.

Saturday – 2-4pm – Meet and Greet Open House

This will be a time to get to know Shaun and his family. Following a time of unstructured fellowship, from 2:30-3:30 Shaun and Beth will answer general questions from the congregation, giving us an introduction to him, his family, his ministry experience, and his vision for this role at CBC. Snacks will also be served.

Sunday – 9am – Shaun and Beth LePage Testimonies

During the “Sunday School” hour, Shaun and Beth will share their testimonies of God’s grace in their lives. This will be an opportunity to hear how the Lord has called them to following Jesus and to a life of church and gospel ministry. Parents, we will also have nursery and a special Sunday School hour for pre-school and elementary kids.

Sunday – 10:30am – Worship Service with Shaun Preaching

During our worship service, Shaun will preach for us. Drawing from 1 Thessalonians, he will encourage us to more greatly excel in our love and obedience to the Lord and love for one another, rooted in our hope in Christ.

Sunday – 12pm – Town Hall with Search Team and Elders

This brief town hall will be a chance to ask any final questions. Toward the beginning, Shaun will be present to address any lingering questions. Afterwards, we will dismiss him, and the search team and elders will answer final questions you may have for us. A vote will not be taken at this town hall. Rather, ballots will be distributed and due the following Sunday, June 18th.

I have also attached the Church Plant Pastor job description, as well as a profile for Shaun LePage. We hope to see you this weekend at CBC, and please be in prayer that the Lord would give us all wisdom and discernment in the days ahead. He is faithful to answer the prayers of His people!
