Growing in Jesus

Connecting with Jesus is not the end of the road. In fact, it is actually the beginning of a much longer journey to an intimate, maturing relationship with God. Like any other relationship in life, our relationship with God is designed to be dynamic and growing. His presence in our daily life is to become as meaningful and real as the air we breathe. So our ultimate goal for each person is not just helping them connect with Jesus, but also to be Growing In Jesus. We desire that each person becomes “conformed to the image of Christ.” (Rom. 8:29) Our goal is to help each member to be “clothed with Christ.” (Gal. 3:27) Our prayer for each person is similar to the Apostle Paul’s prayer to the Ephesian believers…

"I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." (Eph. 3:16-19)

This is God’s goal for us…to enter our lives and empower our actions. He will not rest until we are all that He wants us to become. That doesn’t mean God will love us more as we mature. God loves us just as we are. However, He also loves us too much to leave us there. In His book Just Like Jesus, Max Lucado puts it this way, “God’s plan for you is nothing short of a new heart. If you were a car, God would want to control your engine. If you were a computer, God would claim the software and the hard drive. If you were an airplane, he’d take his seat in the cockpit. But you are a person, so God wants to change your heart.” It is our desire to walk with you on this journey so that together we discover the greatness and the glory of growing in Jesus.
