Children's Ministries

Awana

Awana stands for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed," based on II Timothy 2:15. This ministry’s goal is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. Our Awana clubs offer games, Bible lessons, song times, and verse memorization to children age 3 to 6th grade. Our clubs meet Wednesday evenings at CBC from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the school year beginning in August and ending the first Wednesday in May.  Our current Club year begins August 23, 2006 and will end May 2, 2007.

Children’s Church

Currently, Children’s Church is offered to 3-4-and-5-year-olds during the second worship service each Sunday morning. Children are usually dismissed from their parents to Children’s Church after the worship singing just before the sermon. Bible-based lessons, such as "Love one another," and "Jesus loves me" are introduced to the children through age-appropriate stories, games, crafts, and songs. Teacher teams consisting of at least two adults rotate to teach two consecutive weeks every three months.

Nursery

The CBC nursery offers childcare for infants through age two during both Sunday morning worship services. A sign in for children is available at the counter when entering the nursery. Volunteers use this as a way to know how to best take care of your child. We also offer expanded childcare for older children during special events, such as a Family Gathering or Friendship Banquet.

Sunday school

Sunday school meets at 9:30 a.m. in between the two morning worship services. Classes are offered for ages 2-3, ages 4-5-and-Kindergarten, 1st-2nd grade, 3rd-4th grade, and 5th-6th grade. The regular classes meet during the school year.

Summer Sunday school begins on Father's Day. Children in 1st - 4th grade will combine in a VBS format. 5th and 6th graders will be taught in a separate class. All children will be taught Bible-based lessons, including a variety of activities, games, songs, and crafts. All students will promote to the next grade level at the same time.  Promotion Sunday this year is August 20, 2006.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School 2008 is going VeggieTales®!!.  We will be using the VBS materials created by Big Idea Productions based on their movie "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything."  The HMS Steadfast will pull into port the week of June 9th - 13th,   where rock-solid Bible learning will ride the high seas of adventure through heroic Bible stories, lively worship, action-packed games, amazing science experiments, and memory making crafts that kids will treasure!  Children age 4 through those entering 6th grade in the fall are invited to set sail daily from 9:00am - noon.  Older children may help out in VBS - simply contact Anita Jo Koop (829-3633) or Jackie Conder (780-0551).  Ahoy Mateys!

Children’s Christmas Musical

1st through 6th grade children have performed a musical for many years here at CBC. During this experience, children learn to praise our Savior Jesus Christ while learning Christmas songs, actions, and acting skills. Children usually meet on Sundays 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. for rehearsals during late October through December. The musical will be performed on a Sunday evening in early to mid December.
